Naha Airport to Kokusai-dori for 6: ¥1,460.
If your hotel is walkable from a station, take the Yui Rail.
A family of 6 landing at Naha Airport has to choose: Yui Rail, two taxis, or a pre-booked private car. The Yui Rail costs ¥1,460 one way for 6 to Kencho-mae Station on Kokusai-dori (with two elementary-school children; fares after the February 2025 revision). A regular taxi usually takes up to 4 passengers, so you split into two, at about ¥3,400 to Kokusai-dori.

Real prices for 6The three options compared at real prices for 6
The answer: to Kokusai-dori, the Yui Rail costs less than half of two taxis.
Prices in this article are for 6 people: two parents, two elementary-school children and two grandparents.
| Option | Per person | 6 people, one way |
|---|---|---|
| Yui Rail to Kencho-mae Station (south end of Kokusai-dori) | Adults ¥290, children ¥150 | ¥1,460 |
| Yui Rail to Makishi Station (north end of Kokusai-dori) | Adults ¥320, children ¥160 | ¥1,600 |
| Taxi (2 small cars) to Kokusai-dori | About ¥1,700 and about 20 min per car | About ¥3,400 |
| Pre-booked private transfer | Depends on the company and vehicle | Check on the booking page |
What the chart leaves out is the walk to your hotel. If the hotel is far from a station, a taxi takes you to the door.
| Option | 5 (4 adults + 1 child) | 6 (4 adults + 2 children) | 7 (4 adults + 3 children) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yui Rail (to Kencho-mae) | ¥1,310 | ¥1,460 | ¥1,610 |
| Taxi (to Kokusai-dori) | 2 small cars, about ¥3,400 | 2 small cars, about ¥3,400 | 2 small cars, about ¥3,400 |
- The Yui Rail child fare is for ages 6–11 (a 12-year-old still in elementary school also pays the child fare). Children 12 and over pay the adult fare; if all 6 are adults, it is ¥1,740 to Kencho-mae.
- Children under 6 ride free, up to 2 per ticket holder (child or adult); the third pays the child fare.
- This article counts the grandparents at the adult fare (Yui Rail's only senior discount is for people who show a Japanese driving history certificate after giving up their licence).
If your hotel is walkable from a station, the Yui Rail is enough
The answer: if your hotel is within walking distance of a Yui Rail station, the Yui Rail is all you need. It runs from the airport station to the main stations in the city with no change, and the airport station has lifts.
- From Naha Airport Station to Asahibashi (about 11 min), Kencho-mae and Tsubogawa: adults ¥290 / children ¥150 (¥1,460 for 6).
- To Miebashi (about 14 min), Makishi and Asato: adults ¥320 / children ¥160 (¥1,600 for 6).
- Fares are from the Yui Rail fare table as of September 2026. The 6 are calculated as 4 adults + 2 elementary-school children.
1. From the 2nd floor by walkway Naha Airport & Yui Rail
Naha Airport Station connects by walkway to the domestic side of the terminal's 2nd floor (departures). If you land on an international flight, follow the "Yui Rail" signs up to the 2nd floor.
2. Lifts and multipurpose toilets Yui Rail
Naha Airport Station has lifts and escalators between the ticket gates and the platform, and a multipurpose toilet with a baby-changing table.
3. Tickets, IC cards, contactless Yui Rail
You can ride with a (QR) ticket, transport IC cards such as OKICA or Suica, or a contactless credit or debit card.
- If you land on an international flight, leave the arrivals lobby, go through to the domestic area and take the 2nd-floor walkway to Naha Airport Station (Naha Airport terminal guide). The walking time is not given officially.
- Naha Airport Station has only 4 large coin lockers (¥600 per use, until the last train that day). Do not count on them for 6 people's luggage.
- The official Yui Rail site says nothing about the size or number of suitcases. Okinawa Prefecture's monorail guide (Mononavi Okinawa) asks passengers not to take up space with large luggage, so avoid the morning and evening rush, when the trains are crowded, and keep bags at your feet or in the luggage space.
- The 3-car trains have a large-luggage space for suitcases near the doors (Yui Rail train guide). Nothing is said about a luggage space on the 2-car trains, so expect it to depend on which train comes.
How to choose a hotel you can walk to from a station is in places in Naha where 6 can share one room (for example, a condominium 5–6 minutes from Miebashi Station and a hotel with Japanese-style rooms about 7 minutes from Asato Station).
Two taxisIf your hotel is far from a station, two taxis
The answer: if your hotel is far from a station, or the grandparents cannot walk far, take two taxis. From the airport to the main places in Naha, budget about ¥1,300–¥2,700 per car.
| Destination | Time | 1 car | 2 cars |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asahibashi / Naha Bus Terminal | About 10 min | About ¥1,400 | About ¥2,800 |
| Naminoue Beach | About 10 min | About ¥1,300 | About ¥2,600 |
| Tomari Wharf | About 10 min | About ¥1,600 | About ¥3,200 |
| Kokusai-dori | About 20 min | About ¥1,700 | About ¥3,400 |
| Shuri Castle | About 20 min | About ¥2,700 | About ¥5,400 |
- A late-night/early-morning surcharge applies from 22:00 to 5:00.
- When you split into two cars, prepare two notes with the hotel's name and address in Japanese, and put one adult in each car.
- Outside the arrivals lobby, on both the domestic and international sides, there is a jumbo-taxi rank separate from the regular taxi rank (airport map). Fares for jumbo taxis taken from the rank are not published, so ask the driver before you get in. Among companies that take bookings, e-Hire, for example, publishes ¥12,000 per HiAce (1–9 passengers) from Naha Airport to hotels in central Naha (tax, tolls and parking included; book by noon the day before).
With lots of luggage, book a private transfer before you land
The answer: if your group or your luggage will not fit in two taxis, book a private transfer before you arrive. Give both the number of people and the number of suitcases when you book, and they will send a vehicle that fits.
- Example: for Okinawa MK Taxi's fixed-price airport transfers, the HiAce is listed as "9 seats (8 recommended), 9 suitcases (assuming 90 L)" (by reservation; you meet in the reserved-vehicle lane on the airport's 1st floor).
- 9 people and 3 large suitcases fit within the seats and luggage count, but go over the recommended 8, so split into two vehicles if you want room. MK says it will arrange a second vehicle if the luggage does not fit.
- Naha City is not on MK's fixed-price transfer table (for places not on the table, you enquire). For central Naha, look on the booking page, including other companies' transfers.
- How much fits depends on the vehicle and the company. Choose by the passenger and luggage numbers shown on the booking page.
On a heavy-luggage day, go private from the airport to the hotel
9 or more people, or more than one suitcase each: if either applies, a private transfer is the easy option.
The price shown is the default for a small group. For 6 people and 6 suitcases, look at the 10-seater (9 people, up to 9 bags) rather than the 7-seater (6 people, up to 4 bags) (vehicle details shown on Klook, October 2026). Enter 6 passengers and your number of bags on the booking page to check.
Decide on the 1-day pass by "will each person ride 4 or more times that day?"
The answer: on a day when you only ride once or twice, between the airport and the hotel, regular fares are cheaper. The 1-day pass pays off on days when each person rides 4 or more times.
- 1-day pass (valid 24 hours): adults ¥1,000, children ¥500 → ¥5,000 for 6
- 2-day pass (valid 48 hours): adults ¥1,800, children ¥900 → ¥9,000 for 6
- Official rule of thumb: the 1-day pass pays off at 4 or more rides, the 2-day pass at 8 or more (based on the ¥250 minimum fare)
- Klook also sells a 1-day pass (digital, no exchange needed), but it is valid only until 23:59 on the day of use (the station's 1-day pass lasts 24 hours) and it is adult-only. Buy children's passes at the station (Klook terms of use, October 2026).
Only for days outside Naha do you need something else
The answer: if you stay in Naha and move around only within the city, you do not need to drive. Only on days you go north, for example to the Churaumi Aquarium, should you think about a rental car or a pre-booked bus.
- For the north, see Naha Airport to northern Okinawa for big families, which compares a rental car with pre-booked buses.

Honest caveats
These are things we have not been able to verify, so we do not assert them.
Yui Rail revised its fares in February 2025
Some guides still show the old fares. This article uses the fares we checked on the official fare table in September 2026.
The walk from the international arrivals exit to the station is not given officially
Leave the arrivals lobby, go through to the domestic area and take the 2nd-floor walkway to the station (Naha Airport terminal guide).
The rules on bringing suitcases are not stated officially
That is why we do not say "up to so many" or "free". Avoid crowded times and keep bags at your feet or in the luggage space.
Jumbo-taxi fares at the rank are not published
The fixed price for the pre-booked e-Hire service (¥12,000 per vehicle) is the company's published figure. For a vehicle taken from the rank, confirm the fare with the driver before you get in.
Child-fare categories
Child-fare categories are defined differently by each operator, and the official sites do not always state them. In this article we write only what we could confirm, and mark anything we could not confirm as "not stated". Always check how ages and headcounts are counted when you book.
