Our team

We're the Big Family Japan editorial team. For each article, we confirm capacity, room specs, onsen rules, distance from the station and more one item at a time against primary sources — the hotel's official site, its official booking screen, carriers' public information, tourist-office materials, and so on — before we publish. When an article has a named author, we state that author's name in its byline.

Editorial policy — what we do

Big-family travel info has a quality where a gap in a number or a capacity can break the whole itinerary (for example, a listing that says "6 guests" but is really 4 beds plus extras). On this site, every article follows the rules below.

• Verify against official sources. Figures like room capacity, floor area, bed configuration, onsen rules and station proximity are confirmed one by one on the hotel's official site or official booking screen. We don't second-hand numbers from OTAs or roundup sites.
• State the check date. Official info gets revised too. We note the article's "last updated" date and, where needed, the check date for individual facts (rates, opening hours, timetables, etc.) in the body or the author box.
• Don't publish numbers we can't confirm. Rates, travel times or capacities not stated officially are either clearly marked as a "rough guide" or written only as far as we can confirm. Instead, we show readers how to check for themselves.
• Write the downsides honestly. Even for a place we recommend, we don't leave out the "things to know before booking" — onsen age limits, the last train, peak-season price spikes, and so on.
• Use rights-cleared images. For hotel exteriors and the like we use each operator's official supplied images (credit required); for other visuals we use license-checked material or our own self-made SVG / HTML/CSS infographics.
• Disclose affiliate relationships upfront. Articles that carry affiliate links to Rakuten Travel, Klook, Agoda or Stay22 disclose the promotion and the type of link at the start of the article. Your booking or experience price does not change.

What we don't do

In covering big-family travel, we spell out in writing the things we deliberately don't do to avoid putting out misinformation.

• We don't invent people or backgrounds. We don't use fictional author names or claims of experience we can't verify. We give a real name only on articles that can be signed with one; otherwise we publish under the editorial team's name.
• We don't write things we haven't experienced as "first-hand accounts." We don't publish word-of-mouth, star ratings or stay reviews that aren't based on an actual stay. Instead we write only from verifiable facts — official specs, operating info, OTA rate calendars and the like.
• We don't publish our own star scores or popularity rankings. Compiling ratings or rankings requires real stay counts and a statistical basis, so we don't do it at this point. Readers who want to reference OTA ratings can check them directly on the booking screen.
• We don't use "fake-looking generic stock photos" on their own. Generic stock of hotel interiors or food is used only with a note to avoid misleading readers, or replaced with our own diagrams.
