Rooms for 6 within a walk of Kyoto Station exist.
The problem is the cherry-blossom price and the tax for 6.
Within walking distance of Kyoto Station there are rooms with a kitchen where 6 can stay together, each with their own bedding. The catch is the price. Searching Rakuten Travel for a room for 6 near Kyoto Station, the same room cost about 3 times as much in late March 2027 as on a weekday in January (searched on 5 October 2026, 6 adults, 1 room, 1 night, room only). Kyoto City's accommodation tax is also charged per person per night: for 3 nights in the same room, the tax for 6 goes from ¥7,200 to ¥18,000.

One room for 6Rooms for 6 within a walk of Kyoto Station can be found
The answer: about 10 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, several apartment hotels and machiya (townhouse) stays have rooms for 6 or more.
| Place | Rooms for 6 or more | Where you sleep |
|---|---|---|
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station | 3 room types for 6 (42–47 m²) | 2 beds + sofa bed + 3 futons |
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station Kamogawa | Suite (49 m², sleeps 7) | 2 beds 1,400 mm wide + 3 sofa beds |
| STAY&GO Kyoto Station North | Two rooms for 6 and a room for 8 (71 m²) | A room with 6 single beds / a room with 3 single beds + 3 futons, and others |
| Rinn Premium Hiun | A whole Kyoto machiya per booking. Hiun I (99 m², sleeps 7) and Hiun II (105 m², sleeps 9) | Futons |
- The same places also have rooms for only 4 or 5, so on the booking screen always check the room name and capacity.
- Renting a whole machiya near Nanzen-ji, a little further from Kyoto Station, is covered in a whole machiya near Nanzen-ji.
The same room costs around 3 times more in cherry-blossom season than in January
The answer: for rooms for 6 near Kyoto Station, prices from late March to early April 2027 were about 3 times those of a weekday in January. Moving your dates can change the cost of your stay by ¥100,000 or more.
The amounts in this article are for a family of 6: a couple, 2 children (elementary school) and 2 grandparents. The prices themselves are Rakuten Travel searches for "6 adults".
Same room, same party: 27 March costs about 3.4 times as much as 20 January. Per person, that is about ¥31,200 against about ¥9,200.
| Place | Sat 27 Mar 2027 | Wed 31 Mar 2027 | Sat 3 Apr 2027 | Wed 20 Jan 2027 | Wed 2 Dec 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station (Deluxe Japanese, non-refundable) | ¥187,152 | ¥178,662 | ¥195,714 | ¥55,050 | ¥80,592 |
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station Kamogawa (Suite, non-refundable) | ¥213,390 | ¥182,838 | ¥198,078 | ¥60,618 | ¥106,416 |
| Rinn Premium Hiun (limited-time plan) | ¥283,800 | ¥258,000 | ¥258,000 | ¥90,816 | ¥101,700 |
| STAY&GO Kyoto Station North | ¥100,000 | ¥100,000 | ¥100,000 | ¥100,000 | ¥100,000 |
- At both MONday places, refundable plans are about 10% more (for example ¥209,742 at Kyoto Station on 27 March). Non-refundable plans give nothing back if you cancel.
- At Rinn Premium Hiun, the same building can cost several times more depending on the plan name (for example Hiun I on 27 March: limited-time plan ¥283,800, standard plan ¥1,020,000). Compare plan names before you book.
- STAY&GO Kyoto Station North is a fixed "¥100,000 per room for any room". That is cheap in cherry-blossom season and more than MONday in January.
| Place | 5 | 6 | 7 |
|---|---|---|---|
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station | 1 room | 1 room (sleeps 6) | Cannot stay (6 max) |
| MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station Kamogawa | 1 room | 1 room | 1 room (Suite, sleeps 7) |
| STAY&GO Kyoto Station North | 1 room | 1 room | 1 room (C-Type, sleeps 8) |
| Rinn Premium Hiun | 1 house | 1 house | 1 house (Hiun I sleeps 7, Hiun II sleeps 9) |
- Whether children can share a bed differs by property (for example, MONday Kyoto Station Kamogawa says children aged 6 and under can share). Count elementary-school children as needing their own bedding.
Kyoto City's accommodation tax adds up with 6 people × nights
The answer: Kyoto City's accommodation tax is charged per person per night, and the band is set by the room price divided by the number of guests. In cherry-blossom season the price goes up, and so does the tax band.
| Room price per person | Tax per person per night |
|---|---|
| Under ¥6,000 | ¥200 |
| ¥6,000 to under ¥20,000 | ¥400 |
| ¥20,000 to under ¥50,000 | ¥1,000 |
| ¥50,000 to under ¥100,000 | ¥4,000 |
| ¥100,000 and over | ¥10,000 |
Rough tax for 6 staying 3 nights from 27 March at MONday Apart Premium Kyoto Station.
From 20 January, the same 6 people and 3 nights would be ¥7,200 (Rakuten price minus consumption tax, divided by 6, put into Kyoto City's bands).
| Place and date | Per person | Tax per person per night | 6 people, 1 night | 6 people, 3 nights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MONday Kyoto Station, 27 March | About ¥28,000 | ¥1,000 | ¥6,000 | ¥18,000 |
| MONday Kyoto Station, 20 January | About ¥8,300 | ¥400 | ¥2,400 | ¥7,200 |
| STAY&GO Kyoto Station North (¥100,000 on every date on Rakuten) | About ¥15,200 | ¥400 | ¥2,400 | ¥7,200 |
- The "room price" is the room-only price (room charge plus service charge), without meals or consumption tax.
- The room price is divided by the number of guests before the band is chosen (Kyoto City's FAQ example: a ¥20,000 room for 2 is ¥10,000 per person).
- Everyone who is charged for the stay is taxed, whatever their age. Family trips are not exempt.
- Even at the same place on the same date, a different plan changes the price per person, and so can change the tax band.
- The property collects the tax. If it was included in what you paid the booking site or travel agency, you do not pay it again at the property.
- Whether Rakuten's price includes the tax depends on the property. Both MONday places say in a notice on their official site that the tax is "not included in the price shown when booking and is paid separately at the property" (notice of February 2026). Rinn Premium Hiun also says "paid separately at the property". For STAY&GO Kyoto Station North, Rakuten's pages say nothing, and we could not confirm it.
