Do Ghibli Park and LEGOLAND Nagoya on separate days.
A big family counts first who goes free
Nagoya has two big family days out: Ghibli Park, where you walk into the world of Studio Ghibli, and LEGOLAND Japan, the land of bricks. But the two lie in opposite directions from Nagoya Station, Ghibli Park sells date-and-time tickets from two months ahead, and the age at which children go free is different at each. So this article decides first which of the 6 go free, then which day each park goes on.
This article contains promotional content (PR). We include Klook affiliate links for booking airport transfers, transport tickets, experiences, and luggage delivery. If you book through these links, we may earn a commission to help run the site (at no extra cost to you). Options not covered by our partners, such as JR and other public transport, are compared neutrally.
The free lineFirst decide who goes free
The answer: the age at which children go free differs at the two parks. A 3-year-old is free at Ghibli Park but pays at LEGOLAND.
| Category | Ghibli Park | LEGOLAND Japan |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 and under | Under 3 |
| Child | Age 4 to elementary school | Ages 3–18 (junior and senior high students are children too) |
| Adult | Junior high school and up | 19 and over |
- A 3-year-old: free at Ghibli, child price at LEGOLAND.
- Junior and senior high school students: adult price at Ghibli, child price at LEGOLAND.
- Grandparents: we found no senior category on either ticket price table, so this article counts them at the adult price.
- Child fares on Japanese trains go by school year, not age, and the line is different again from the parks'. See At what age do children pay on Japanese trains?
What tickets for 6 cost
Amounts in this article are calculated for a family of 6: two parents, two elementary-school children and two grandparents.
The answer: for 6, Ghibli Park runs from ¥5,000 (Satoyama O-Sanpo ticket, weekday) to ¥39,000 (O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium, weekends and holidays) depending on the ticket, and LEGOLAND starts at ¥27,000. Every Ghibli ticket also has a system fee of ¥110 per ticket.
| Ticket | Weekday | Weekends & holidays |
|---|---|---|
| O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium (all 5 areas) | ¥36,500 | ¥39,000 |
| O-Sanpo Day Pass Standard (3 areas) | ¥16,500 | ¥19,000 |
| Ghibli's Grand Warehouse only | ¥10,000 | ¥10,000 |
| Satoyama O-Sanpo ticket (Dondoko Forest summit, Mononoke Village; Valley of Witches afternoons only) | ¥5,000 | ¥7,500 |
| Ticket | 5 (4 adults + 1 child) | 6 (4 adults + 2 children) | 7 (4 adults + 3 children) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghibli Standard (weekday) | ¥14,850 | ¥16,500 | ¥18,150 |
| Ghibli Premium (weekday) | ¥32,850 | ¥36,500 | ¥40,150 |
| LEGOLAND (lowest) | from ¥23,300 | from ¥27,000 | from ¥30,700 |
- If your mix is different: if both children are 3 or under, Ghibli is 4 adults only (Premium weekday ¥29,200). If both are 2 or under, LEGOLAND is also 4 adults only (from ¥19,600).
- Per person (Ghibli): Premium weekday adult ¥7,300, child ¥3,650 / weekends and holidays adult ¥7,800, child ¥3,900. Standard weekday adult ¥3,300, child ¥1,650 / weekends and holidays adult ¥3,800, child ¥1,900. Ghibli's Grand Warehouse only: adult ¥2,000, child ¥1,000. Satoyama O-Sanpo ticket weekday adult ¥1,000, child ¥500 / weekends and holidays adult ¥1,500, child ¥750 (you can enter the Valley of Witches from 13:00 to 16:30).
- LEGOLAND uses dynamic pricing, so the price changes with the day you visit. This article gives only the lowest price.
- The combo that adds SEA LIFE Nagoya to LEGOLAND is from ¥4,500 for children and from ¥5,700 for adults (you can enter both on the same day).
Which park on which day: settle the Ghibli day first
The answer: decide your Ghibli Park day first and get the tickets, then put LEGOLAND on one of the remaining days, including the day Ghibli Park is closed.
Each official site as of September 2026. Ghibli Park is closed every Tuesday (the next weekday if Tuesday is a public holiday), over the New Year and on other designated days such as maintenance days. LEGOLAND closes a few times a year for 2–3 weekdays in a row (from October 2026 to June 2027: 13–14 January, 19–21 January and 11–13 May, from the official annual pass calendar checked in October 2026). The Toyota Commemorative Museum is closed on Mondays (the next day if Monday is a public holiday), and Higashiyama Zoo on Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday; official, as of October 2026).
- Ghibli Park tickets go on sale at 14:00 on the 10th, two months before the month you visit (for example, tickets for December go on sale at 14:00 on 10 October). This is the same for every ticket.
- For Ghibli's Grand Warehouse you choose an entry time (on the hour, 9:00–14:00); for Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest you choose morning or afternoon.
- Ghibli Park is closed every Tuesday (the next weekday if Tuesday is a public holiday), over the New Year and on other designated days such as maintenance days. Check your day on Ghibli Park's official calendar.
- LEGOLAND is usually open 10:00–17:00, and hours can change by day. It closes only on a few weekdays a year; from October 2026 to June 2027 the closed days are 13–14 January, 19–21 January and 11–13 May. The calendar can change without notice, so check your day on the official operating calendar.
Travel time if you go from Nagoya Station to both Ghibli Park (about 50 minutes each way)
and LEGOLAND (about 35 minutes each way) and back in one day. The two lie in opposite directions from the station.
- Ghibli Park is about 50 minutes east of Nagoya Station by train; LEGOLAND is 24 minutes by train south-west to the port, plus about 10 minutes on foot from the station. Because Ghibli has a set entry time, a plan with both in one day is hard to make work.
- Example (3 nights, 2 full days): Ghibli Park on day 2 (get the tickets on the day they go on sale), LEGOLAND on day 3. In a week when your Ghibli day would fall on a Tuesday closure, make Tuesday your LEGOLAND day (from October 2026 to June 2027, LEGOLAND is closed on a Tuesday only on 19 January and 11 May 2027).
Getting there from Nagoya Station: Ghibli about 50 min, LEGOLAND 24 min with no change
The answer: Ghibli Park is about 50 minutes by subway and Linimo with one change; LEGOLAND is 24 minutes on the Aonami Line with no change. Neither has its own car park.
| To | How | One-way fare | Return for 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghibli Park | Subway Higashiyama Line (for Fujigaoka, to the end) → at Fujigaoka, Linimo (for Yakusa) → get off at "Ai Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen"; the park is right there. About 50 min | Adult ¥710, child ¥350 (subway ¥310/¥150 + Linimo ¥400/¥200) | ¥7,080 |
| Ghibli Park (direct bus) | Direct bus from stop 24 on the 4th floor of Meitetsu Bus Center (Nagoya Station), 40 min. No reservations and no standing; if it is full, wait for the next bus | Adult ¥1,200, child ¥600 | ¥12,000 |
| LEGOLAND Japan | Aonami Line to the end, Kinjo-futo, 24 min, then about 10 minutes on foot | Adult ¥360, child ¥180 | ¥3,600 |
- Ghibli Park has no car park of its own, so go by public transport rather than by car. There is also a direct bus from Meitetsu Bus Center (Nagoya Station) (on weekdays 7 of the 9 buses are direct; on weekends and holidays all 10 are). It saves the change, but a return for 6 is ¥12,000 by bus against ¥7,080 by train. The bus does not run on days Ghibli Park is closed, and some buses do not take cash (pay with a transport IC card or similar).
- LEGOLAND has no car park of its own either; by car, use a nearby paid car park.
- Children below school age ride free: on the subway and the Aonami Line, up to 4 per adult or child passenger; on Linimo, up to 2 per guardian aged 6 or over.
- If you stay within walking distance of Nagoya Station, you save one change on the morning of both days. We compare places to stay in Where a family of 6 can share one room in Nagoya.
- Getting from the airport (Centrair) to Nagoya Station is covered in Centrair to Nagoya Station and Osu with a family of 6.
Going into Ghibli Park with infants and grandparents
The answer: there are no coin lockers inside Ghibli Park, and the areas are far apart. Leave big bags at your stay, and plan on leaving the pushchair outside the buildings.
- The five areas are spread around the park. From the station, Ghibli's Grand Warehouse is about 400 m, Mononoke Village and the Valley of Witches about 800 m, and Dondoko Forest about 1–1.3 km (official distances). The only ride in the park is the slope car up to the top of Dondoko Forest.
- There are no coin lockers inside the Ghibli Park areas. There are some at the park's North Entrance information centre, the Global Citizens Exchange Center and the West Entrance information centre, but only a limited number.
- Pushchairs cannot be taken into most buildings inside the areas (you leave them in a parking space before going in). Pushchairs and wheelchairs can be borrowed at the North and West Entrance information centres of the park (Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park), free of charge, with no reservations. There are 2 type-A and 8 type-B pushchairs at the North Entrance and 6 type-B at the West Entrance, for children up to age 3 (the park's official information, October 2026). There are only a few, so if you plan to use one, bringing your own is the safe choice.
- Nursing rooms (with nappy-changing and hot water for formula) are at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse and in the Valley of Witches.
Where to buy: Ghibli from the official outlet, LEGOLAND on Klook
The answer: buy Ghibli Park tickets from the official outlets (LAWSON TICKET from overseas, Boo-Woo Ticket from within Japan). LEGOLAND tickets are sold on a Klook product page (check it is on sale before you buy).
- The overseas outlets Ghibli Park officially lists are LAWSON TICKET and Klook (packages with accommodation through JTB, Viator, KKday and others). However, Klook's Ghibli Park ticket showed "Currently unavailable" on its English and other pages as of 4 October 2026, and there was no Japanese page.
- At 14:00 (Japan time) on the day tickets go on sale, decide the number of people and the entry time for 6 before you go to buy. One application can buy up to 6 tickets, and children 3 and under are not counted (official).
- On top of the ticket, there is a system fee of ¥110 per ticket (¥660 for 6; the amounts in the tables above are the ticket prices only). Once bought, you cannot change the date or time or get a refund (official).
- If you are 7 or more, split into small groups of 6 or fewer to buy. Each person can apply only once per ticket type, so each group needs a different applicant (representative). You enter together with your representative, and the representative's ID (such as a passport) may be checked at the entrance, so move around the park in your small groups too.
- Buying LEGOLAND tickets at the ticket window on the day costs a ¥500 issuing fee per ticket (¥3,000 for 6). Buy online by the day before.
- For people living in Japan, the outlets are Boo-Woo Ticket (online) and Lawson and Ministop convenience stores.

Adding one more day besides Ghibli and LEGOLAND
The answer: with infants, keep it to Higashiyama Zoo with no change from Nagoya Station, Inuyama Castle about 40 minutes away, or the Toyota Commemorative Museum one stop away. Shirakawa-go, about 2 hours 40 minutes each way, is better planned as a separate trip.
- Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens (a spare day for families with many children who go free): 17 minutes from Nagoya Station on the subway Higashiyama Line with no change, then 3 minutes on foot from exit 3 of Higashiyama-koen Station (adult ¥270, child ¥130). Admission is ¥800 for adults (from 1 October 2026; ¥200 for Nagoya residents aged 65 and over), and junior high school students and younger are free, so 6 people (4 adults, 2 children) pay ¥3,200. You can buy tickets on the day at each gate. Open 9:00–16:50 (last entry 16:30), closed on Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday); one ticket gets you into both the zoo and the botanical gardens. Pushchairs can be rented for ¥300 (7 months to 3 years; there are only a few double pushchairs, so book by phone), and showing a subway one-day ticket you are using that day brings the adult price down to ¥640 (one person per ticket).
- Inuyama Castle (a longer outing with infants): about 40 minutes from Nagoya to Inuyama-yuen on Meitetsu. General ¥1,000, elementary and junior high school students ¥200, preschoolers free. The keep has narrow, steep stairs, and you take off your shoes to go up. You cannot take large bags in (coin lockers beside the ticket office and at the Inuyama Castle tourist information centre).
- Shirakawa-go: about 2 hours 40 minutes each way by reserved highway bus from Meitetsu Bus Center. On reserved highway buses, an infant using a seat of their own pays the child fare (the operator recommends a seat for safety). Fares change by day on a fare calendar, and children pay half the adult fare. With two infants, it is a day with about 5½ hours on the bus there and back. We compare the ways to get there in Getting to Takayama and Shirakawa-go.
Is the Toyota Commemorative Museum good for a 3- and a 5-year-old? Official
One stop from Nagoya on Meitetsu (Sako). Preschoolers are free, so 6 people (2 adults, 2 aged 65+, 2 elementary-school children) pay ¥3,000 (¥4,600 if the grandparents are under 65). Open 9:30–17:00, closed on Mondays (the next day if Monday is a public holiday); visitors aged 65 and over show proof of age. The hands-on Technoland needs a numbered ticket handed out first come, first served on the day (entry by time slot, once per person per day), and some activities need a height of 120 cm or more. Think of it as "a 3- or 5-year-old can go in, but cannot do everything".
Honest caveats (three things we could not confirm or have not written)
These are things we have not been able to verify, so we do not assert them.
The top of LEGOLAND's price range
LEGOLAND uses dynamic pricing, and this article gives only the lowest price. Check the price for your day on the booking screen.
LEGOLAND's closed days from July 2027
The closed days in this article are read from the official annual pass calendar (up to June 2027). The days from July 2027 have not been published yet, so families going then should check the operating calendar.
When Technoland's numbered tickets are handed out
Technoland, the hands-on exhibit at the Toyota Commemorative Museum, needs a numbered ticket handed out first come, first served on the day, with entry by time slot and only once per person per day. The official pages (Japanese, English and Traditional Chinese) do not say what time the tickets start being handed out or how long each slot is. If you want to go in, arrive for opening (9:30) and check the times at the museum.
Ghibli Park and LEGOLAND FAQ
Can we do Ghibli Park and LEGOLAND in one day?
Both in one day is hard to plan. They lie in opposite directions from Nagoya Station, and going to both and back takes about 2 hours 50 minutes of travel alone. Ghibli Park tickets have a set entry time, so split them over separate days.
When can we buy Ghibli Park tickets?
They go on sale at 14:00 (Japan time) on the 10th, two months before the month you visit. They are not sold at the park or at the entrance to each area. One application can buy up to 6 tickets (children 3 and under are not counted); if you are 7 or more, buy as two groups with different representatives.
From what age do children need a ticket?
From age 4 at Ghibli Park (3 and under are free) and from age 3 at LEGOLAND (under 3 are free). Junior and senior high school students pay the adult price at Ghibli and the child price at LEGOLAND.
How much should we budget for 6?
For 4 adults and 2 elementary-school children, Ghibli's O-Sanpo Day Pass Standard is ¥16,500 on a weekday and Premium ¥36,500 on a weekday, and LEGOLAND is from ¥27,000 (calculated from official prices, September 2026). The cheapest Ghibli ticket, the Satoyama O-Sanpo ticket, is ¥5,000 on a weekday, and every ticket has a system fee of ¥110 per ticket.
Can we go by car?
Ghibli Park has no car park of its own; go by subway and Linimo. LEGOLAND has no car park of its own either, and the Aonami Line is the easy way there.
Secure your Ghibli day first
Buy Ghibli tickets on release day (14:00 on the 10th, two months before the month you visit), and LEGOLAND tickets online by the day before.
